Prayer Increases Love

When someone is hurt or diagnosed with a sickness, we cry out to God on their behalf for healing. When we know someone who has lost their job or has an upcoming decision to make - we pray that they will have an extra dose of wisdom. When we have a loved one that does not have a saving relationship with Jesus, we pray even more. Our heart breaks at the thought of this person that we love spending eternity apart from God.

We pray for people we love, just as Jesus did in the garden (John 17) when He prayed for his disciples and all believers.

But do you pray for people who you do not know very well? Or do you pray for people who you are not fond of? Maybe someone at work rubs you the wrong way? Maybe someone at church always seems to say something to you that ruffles your feathers.

Do it. Choose someone you do not care for or do not know well and pray for them. Do you know what will happen? You will start to love them. You will start to care about what is going on in their life.

God increases our love for others as we pray for them. It is amazing! It is especially amazing when it is someone we do  not seem to get along with. We can pray for God to first give us the desire to even pray for them. Then when He does this (because He will), we can pray for an increased love for this person.

So who will you pray for starting today?

I love to hear from my readers so if you are thinking something that is beneficial and profitable (which does not mean you have to agree with me, but at least be nice), then I would love to hear from you!
